About the Author

Janet Kim Boone

I'm a doctoral student in Educational Psychology at North Carolina State University. I'm a second generation Korean American. I'm a former high school special education teacher, and I now teach undergraduate educational psychology classes. I also conduct research with my adviser, Dr. Jessica DeCuir-Gunby. My current research areas include race, emotions, and socio-ecological systems of support for students of Color. I believe that we should implement strength-based supports to meet the academic, social, and psychological well-being of students. My educational ideology is that by holistically meeting the needs of students, we will then meet the needs of our society.
